The South African Department of Employment and Labour unveil guidelines to deal with Covid-19 at workplaces
The Department has developed a COVID-19 guideline. This COVID-19 planning guidance was developed based on traditional infection prevention and occupational hygiene practices. It focuses on the need for employers to implement the following: ·
Ventilation and Engineering controls - Isolating employees from work-related hazards, installing high-efficiency air filters, increasing ventilation rates in the work environment and installing physical barriers such as face shields to provide protection.
The European Federation of HVAC associations have made a statement relating to the following...
"Humidification and air conditioning have no practical effect on transmission of the virus. Unlike some other viruses, SARS-Co the virus which causes the Covid-19 disease, is quite resistant to environmental changes and is susceptible only to high relative humidities above 80% and a temperature above 30˚C. Heating and cooling systems, the document says, can be operated normally as there are no direct implications on Covid-19 spread"
